Gratitude is a Rare Virtue and the Highest Blessing in Life | 17 Apr 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Apr 17, 2026

"Luang Por Anan spoke about how the completeness of being human can be measured by whether one has Dhamma in the heart—especially gratitude towards one’s parents, which is rare in this world. He compared parents to the Brahmās and arahants in the home, who give love without expecting anything in return. Therefore, children have the duty to care for them and ease their suffering while they are alive, as well as to make merit and recollect their kindness during festivals such as Songkran and QingMing after they have passed away.
Gratitude is considered a blessing in life. For example, there was a 15-year-old girl who struggled in life by collecting recyclables to care for her bedridden father, moving society to donate over one million baht to support her. Likewise, in a past life, the Buddha himself devotedly cared for his blind parents.
Therefore, practising gratitude helps elevate the mind, making it noble, and brings true happiness and prosperity into one’s life." ____

Filter Water Until It’s Clear, Filter the Mind Until It Is Pure | 24 Apr 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Apr 25, 2026
"The human mind is like a stream of water. If we let it flow along with our emotions, it will naturally become cloudy and unsettled.

Training the mind is therefore like ‘filtering water’. It requires mindfulness and moral discipline as filters to remove the sediments of defilements. One important stage is filtering our speech.
Words mixed with anger are like ‘hot water’ that burns both our own heart and others. In contrast, right speech filled with loving-kindness is like ‘cool water’ that brings calm and ease to one another.
When we continuously refine and purify the mind until it becomes clear, loving-kindness transforms into 'pure, life-giving water' that nourishes the heart, making it cool and peaceful. This cooling, soothing quality is something that can truly be experienced.
In the end, when our body, speech, and mind become pure and clear, we naturally encounter true happiness. We are also able to share this cooling, peaceful energy with those around us, allowing them to experience happiness in a beautiful way."

    No Shortcuts | 1 May 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    May 2, 2026

"Why does success take time? We cannot have a barn full of rice if we have not planted it yet. Likewise, success and peace in life have no shortcuts. Everything must be built from causes and conditions. People today tend to be impatient and want quick results, but rushing is like someone planting a tree and constantly pulling it up to check its growth—eventually, the tree withers and dies.
Working or training oneself inevitably involves facing criticism, which we must handle with mindfulness, without reacting in anger. The true secret is “perseverance.” Luang Pu Cha compared taking action to rubbing pieces of bamboo together—if we stop and let them cool down, the fire will never ignite.
Therefore, consistently cultivate goodness, do not give up, and you will encounter lasting success."

Gratitude: The True Treasure of Life | 8 May 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    May 8, 2026

"Luang Por Anan spoke about gratitude as the highest form of merit. The Buddha once praised a monk who gave up his alms food to care for his blind parents. Through the merit of this act, he eventually attained the Dhamma-eye.
In addition, Luang Por shared the Jātaka story of the parrot king, which teaches the principle of allocating food in three ways:
    1. 'Repaying a debt of gratitude' — by using it to care for one’s parents
    2. 'Lending' — by using it to raise one’s children
    3. 'Storing as treasure' — by using it for giving to others
Every child should take care of their parents and regularly check on them. Even if parents may sometimes be stubborn, one should respond with loving-kindness and equanimity, with patience. Gratitude is an essential foundation of the heart, helping us overcome life’s difficulties and live with true happiness."

True Happiness Cannot Be Bought—You Must Cultivate It Through Practice | 15 May 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    May 15, 2026

“Worldly happiness is temporary and cannot be stored or accumulated. Our life is short, like dew on the tip of a blade of grass. Recollecting death reminds us not to live heedlessly.
True happiness cannot be bought with money. It must be cultivated through practice, with the Buddha pointing out the path. We should diligently train in meditation, which can even be practised amidst the busyness of work, until wisdom arises and we see that this body is merely natural elements and without a self.
All suffering arises from attachment. By developing virtue, concentration, and wisdom, until we understand the law of the Three Characteristics, we are able to let go. This is not escaping from the world, but awakening to a state beyond the world (lokuttara), which is the path to the ending of suffering and the discovery of true happiness.” ____

Mindfulness and Dhamma Keep the Heart Safe In the Age of Social Media | 22 May 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    May 22, 2026
“In this age where social media moves rapidly, if we lack mindfulness, we become slaves to craving and comparison, leading to suffering. Therefore, 'knowing moderation', we must learn to use technology mindfully—for example, using it to listen to the Dhamma.

We should also reflect on impermanence: both online popularity and social recognition are constantly changing. Even this body is in truth merely a ‘nest of diseases’, waiting for the day it deteriorates and passes away.
Human life is very short, so we should not live heedlessly. We should diligently practise generosity, observe moral precepts, and cultivate meditation, in order to steady the mind above emotional reactions and avoid being swept along by the restless currents of the world.” ____

Break Bad Habits, Cultivate Buddhist Qualities Visākha Pūjā 2026 | 31 May 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Jun 2, 2026
"On Vesak Day, we should recollect the Fully Self-Awakened Buddha, who was an ordinary human being that diligently developed his highest potential until he realised the truth through the Middle Way. The Buddha taught us to understand the nature of reality: that all things arise, remain for a time, and eventually cease.
Thus, circumambulating with candles should not be done merely for the sake of gaining merit according to tradition. Rather, we should use the candlelight that gradually fades away as a reminder of the impermanent nature of life and of the ever-decreasing time we have left.
All of us should therefore urgently train ourselves through the principles of sīla, samādhi, and paññā, learning to remind the mind not to become attached to various emotions and mental states, so that we may strive to end suffering and successfully kindle the light of wisdom within our hearts in this very life." ____

The Hidden Dangers of Worldly Pleasures | 12 June 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Jun 13, 2026
"Luang Por Anan spoke about meditation practice as the training and cultivation of the mind until one discovers true happiness—a happiness nourished by inner concentration (samādhi) and spiritual joy (pīti), without dependence on external things.

Worldly happiness is like grasping a snake by its tail; it often conceals suffering that will appear later. Wisdom born of the Dhamma helps the mind awaken from delusion.
When one contemplates deeply and realizes that the body is merely a combination of the four elements, subject to arising and passing away, and devoid of any permanent self, the mind transcends conventional assumptions and moves toward true letting go.
The Buddha taught us to turn inward and “search for our own heart” rather than being preoccupied with searching for lost possessions. Guarding the mind, understanding its movements, and realizing the Dhamma are noble treasures—the highest and most precious wealth in life" ____
